‘Glasgow Pixillated’ – a film created by D fie foe for Festival 2018, part of Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

A dynamic D fie foe film, featuring pixillated young performers against a backdrop of iconic Glasgow architecture. The beautiful technique of ‘pixillation’, (animation of the human form), was made famous by Scottish-born Norman McLaren in the 1950s. It’s a style halfway between drama and stop-frame animation, which is then combined with sequences of time-lapse and slow-motion to express certain moods. The film features a backdrop of selected Glasgow architecture and has been developed with a group of diverse young performers and filmmakers, with massive support from the Glasgow Film Theatre, Chris Devaney (choreography) and perfect music and sound-design from Niroshini Thambar.

The film, created by D fie foe for Festival 2018, part of Glasgow 2018 European Championships, will be presented throughout the Festival on hand held tablets and big screens in George Square.

Supported by Glasgow Film Theatre.
