Our Screen Education programme received funding from Screen Scotland

Another year of film services & screen education!

D fie foe’s renowned Screen Education programme is set for another exciting academic year thanks to Screen Scotland’s funding for film delivery across the Lothian’s counties. Screen Scotland is responsible for driving development of all aspects of Scotland’s film and tv industry, through funding and strategic support and we have been lucky enough to be rewarded to deliver our programme.

D fie foe also acknowledge and are grateful for funding from East Lothian Council’s Arts Services, which really means we can bring magic into East Lothian schools and work with inspirational young people, as well as encourage them into the Brunton Hall to watch and to screen their films! So, thank you East Lothian Arts Services and Screen Scotland!

With this funding D fie foe can deliver strategic development programme of school’s screen experience & teachers professional film skills. Our team here at D fie foe, Jonathan Charles and Simone Bloomfield, are highly experienced facilitators who manage, design and deliver a range of tailored film training, facilitated workshops, film literacy and practical filmmaking activities with, and alongside, teachers and their pupils.

Aberlady PS will be trying out a Multi-Class-film project, while East Linton, Longniddry & Pinkie PS’s will produce P7 Leaver’s films, High Schools involved too, with twilights for teachers offered to all schools, so learning about film at all stages.

Outside of these specific projects we are working across the Lothians to offer schools screen education training, support and consultancy. We have time-slots and offer this to all schools in all regions (we really like to focus on schools in areas where there are often few opportunities for getting involved in projects like this). We’d love to work with some new schools so if you know one that might be interested in some film skills ask them to get in touch! We’d love to chat.

With this incredible funding support we can help schools involve all their pupils in fun and exciting projects – we make sure everything we do and all our methods are really inclusive and the resulting projects always show how diverse our children are!

We also initiate and lead larger film projects which might involve multiple schools and we work closely with teachers to continue to support them with incorporating film into the classroom. We’ll be continuing this across the Lothians and if you’re a school who has a big idea then we’d love to hear it!

We’ll be sure to update you later in the year with some of the projects that we have been involved with! Watch this space…
